Tidal control of Phragmites has been successful this year after two months
of intensive tidal flooding. See the picture gallery for comparison of
treated and untreated sites.

More quantitative plant data including the comparison of density,
height, live/dead plant ratio of pre and post treatment will be available
by the end of year and will be posted.

A biologist, Jorge Coppen from a Wildlife Refuge of Florida State
joined the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge last month. He and Steve
will be our new project managers. Welcome Jorge!

One of our project contacts Tracy Casselman, the deputy manager
of Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge is leaving for a new Wildlife Refuge
in Michigan State on Friday 8/10/2001. He has been our acting project contact
ever since Paul Steblein left the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge
a year ago. We congratulate Tracy for his promotion and wish him
a successful career. We will all miss you, Tracy.
